U.S. President Donald Trump continued to threaten Iran on Sunday (June 21, 2026) even as talks began in Switzerland between his vice president and Iranian officials on next steps in the interim agreement signed last week to end the war. The U.S. team is led by Vice President J.D. Vance and includes Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. The Iranian negotiators are led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Pakistan and Qatar are mediators.
India-U.S. interim deal requires only ‘final touches’; Greer to visit New Delhi on June 23-24

CBSE announces Class 12 re-valuation results

Seven women killed in ammonia gas leak in Tiruvallur factory
Seven women died during treatment on Sunday (June 21, 2026) after being affected in a major ammonia gas leak at a private seafood processing unit in Manjangaranai near Periyapalayam, police said. A total of 67 affected workers were rushed to local medical centres immediately, Thiruvallur District Collector S. Kavitha said. India and the 27-nation European Union will sign the free trade agreement by December and are likely to implement the pact during February- March next year, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Sunday (June 21, 2026). On January 27 this year, India and the EU announced the conclusion of negotiations for the ‘mother of all deals’. “Now, with almost zero duty, almost the entire European market will be open for us. The EU’s FTA (free trade agreement) will be signed by December and will be effective by February-March,” Mr. Goyal said during an interaction with chartered accountants in Mumbai.
Mediator Qatar confirms launch of U.S.-Iran talks in Switzerland
The mediating country, Qatar, on Sunday (June 21, 2026) confirmed the start of talks between the United States and Iran in Switzerland aimed at a permanent end to the West Asia war. In a statement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry announced “the launch of the Lake Lucerne Summit and the first meeting of the high-level committee with the participation of representatives from the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the two mediating states, the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan”.
