Sarah Beckstrom, one of the two National Guard members shot in Washington on Wednesday, has died, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday (November 27, 2025). “Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia, one of the guardsmen that we’re talking about, highly respected, young, magnificent person ... She’s just passed away. She’s no longer with us,” Mr. Trump said. “The other young man, is fighting for his life. He’s in very bad shape,” Mr. Trump said as he addressed the troops.

Supreme Court asks government to regulate abusive online content
The Supreme Court on Thursday (November 27, 2025) asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to work on guidelines against user-generated content (UGC) to protect innocents from becoming victims of obscene, even perverse, “anti-national” or personally damaging online content. The top court considered the idea of an “impartial and autonomous authority”, neither bound to private broadcasters nor the government, to vet “prima facie permissible” content.
IMF gives India a ‘C’ on its GDP and other national accounts data, the second-lowest grade
The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) annual review has given India’s national accounts statistics, which includes key figures such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross Value Added (GVA), a grade of ‘C’, the second-lowest grade there is. The Indian government has objected to the IMF’s baseline assumption that the U.S.’ 50% tariffs would continue, saying they would not remain in place “indefinitely”.
Sengottaiyan, former Tamil Nadu Minister expelled from AIADMK, joins Vijay’s TVK
Former AIADMK veteran and nine-time MLA K.A. After complaints from MPs, CISF alters tenure and posting policy at Parliament
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has revised the tenure of its personnel deployed at Parliament to a minimum of four years. At present, they are posted for three years. Personnel with a clean service record and only those who clear psychological assessment tests will be deployed, a CISF official said. The revised policy comes in the wake of complaints by several Members of Parliament who were stopped or questioned by CISF personnel while entering the premises.
Indians largest non-EU group immigrating to and emigrating from U.K.
Indian citizens represented the largest group of non-European Union long-term migrants entering and exiting the UK in the year ending June 2025, as per official data released by the U.K. Office of National Statistics on Thursday (November 27, 2025). Of the Indian citizens who arrived in the U.K. over the period, 90,000 arrived for study-related reasons, 46,000 came for work-related reasons, and 9000 for other reasons. Indians were followed by Chinese, Pakistani, Nigerian and Nepalese citizens in terms of long-term migration from non-EU countries.
Over 68% SIR enumeration forms digitised: ECI
A total of 34,86,60,338 enumeration forms, which is more than 68% of total existing electors, have been digitised till now in the second phase of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being carried out in 12 States and Union Territories, the Election Commission said on Thursday (November 27, 2025). The EC said in a statement that 50,63,50,569 or 99.33% of enumeration forms have been distributed. The total number of electors being covered in this phase are 50,97,44,423.

Myanmar’s upcoming election will be a sham, says rebel leader

Nifty hits an all time high of 26310 but closes 300 points lower
Benchmark NSE Nifty 50 touched an all time high of 26,310 points before paring gains and closing at 26,215.55, on November 27.
