PM Modi, Biden meet virtually before U.S.-India 2+2

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Joe Biden met virtually on Monday morning, as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were in Washington for the fourth ‘2+ 2’ foreign and defence ministry dialogues with their U.S. counterparts. The war between Russia and Ukraine featured prominently in the opening remarks of both leaders and is expected to occupy a significant part of the day’s discussions.

UGC allows enrolling for two degrees

System to come into force in 2022-23
Undergraduate and postgraduate students will soon be able to pursue two degrees simultaneously. University Grants Commission Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar said on Tuesday that the new system would come into force during the academic session 2022-23 and the guidelines would be issued on Wednesday.
Students can thus pursue two offline programmes from one university or two or choose an offline programme with either an online or an open and distance learning programme.

Properties of suspected rioters demolished in Madhya Pradesh

A day after communal clashes singed Khargone in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of Ram Navami, the police on Monday said they have arrested more than 80 persons. Less than 24 hours after the violence, the local administration demolished properties and houses of suspects allegedly involved in the violence. The city remained under curfew on Monday.
