Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her ninth Budget in the Parliament today (February 1, 2026). MEA denies Epstein claim that U.S. played a role in PM’s 2017 visit to Israel

The Union government on Saturday (January 31, 2026) denied the contents of newly released emails from the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump had played a role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel in 2017, referring to the mails as “trashy ruminations by a convicted criminal”. 57 terrorists, 10 security personnel killed in different operations across Pakistan’s Balochistan

A total of 57 terrorists were killed after they carried out attacks on security forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians at 12 different locations in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, officials said Saturday (January 31, 2026). Ten security personnel were also killed during the operations that were conducted from late Friday (January 30) night through Saturday afternoon. These operations come after Pakistani security forces killed 41 terrorists in two different counter-terror measures in Panjgur and Harnai of the province on Thursday (January 29) and Friday (January 30).

An explosion tore through an apartment building on Saturday (January 31, 2026) in Iran’s port city of Bandar Abbas, killing a four-year-old girl as local media footage purportedly showed a security force member being carried out by rescuers. Man suspected of spying for Pakistan’s ISI remanded to police custody in Jaipur

A man accused of spying for the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI was remanded to police custody for four days by a Jaipur court on Saturday (January 31, 2026). The suspect, identified as Jhabararam (28), was arrested on Friday (January 30, 2026) and was produced before a court on Saturday, where he was remanded to police custody till February 4. Rajasthan Police’s Intelligence branch arrested him for allegedly transmitting sensitive Indian Army information across the border and engaging in anti-national activities.

Meta Platforms is set to face trial next week in a lawsuit brought by the state of New Mexico accusing ​it of exposing children and teens to sexual exploitation on its platforms and profiting from it, the ‌first case of its kind against the social media giant to reach a jury. The lawsuit, brought by New Mexico ​Attorney General Raúl Torrez, a Democrat, alleges the company promoted illegal content and enabled the sexual exploitation of children on its Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms. The lawsuit claims Meta allowed predators unfettered access to underage users and connected them with victims, often leading to real-world abuse and human trafficking.
