Andhra Pradesh braces for ‘Montha’ impact as IMD issues red alert for seven districts
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu put the entire administrative machinery on high alert on Sunday (October 26, 2025) as the India Meteorological Department issued red and orange alerts for 23 of the State’s 26 districts for Monday (October 27) in view of cyclonic storm ‘Montha’. The IMD said that the deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by Monday morning (October 27). Thereafter, it was likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning (October 28) and was very likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada in the evening or night.
Jaishankar holds talks with Malaysian PM, regional counterparts on sidelines of ASEAN summit

Election Commission likely to announce on pan-India SIR on October 27
The Election Commission of India will hold a press conference to announce pan-India Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voters’ list on Monday (October 27, 2025) evening, officials said. While complete details were still awaited, the poll authority is likely to announce the first phase of SIR in which 10 to 15 states will be covered, including those going to Assembly polls in 2026. Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry are scheduled to go to polls next year.

Two suspects in Louvre jewel heist arrested in Paris
Two suspects in the brazen daylight heist of some of France’s crown jewels from the Louvre were arrested in Paris on Saturday (October 25, 2025) evening and are being questioned, Le Parisien newspaper reported on Sunday (October 26), citing sources close to the investigation. One of the two suspects was about to leave the country and was taken into custody at Charles de Gaulle airport at about 10 p.m. on Saturday (October 25), the paper said. The other was arrested later in the evening in the Seine-Saint-Denis suburb north of Paris.
India-EU FTA talks intensify, Piyush Goyal set to meet his counterpart in Brussels
