India will upgrade its ‘technical mission’ in Kabul to the status of an embassy, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on Friday (October 10, 2025). The announcement came during Mr. Jaishankar’s meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Taliban administration in Afghanistan, at Hyderabad House. Mr. Jaishankar also raised India’s concerns over the forced repatriation of Afghan refugees by Pakistan and described “cross-border terrorism” as a common challenge to both India and Afghanistan.
Bihar Assembly polls: Filing of nomination papers for first phase begins
Filing of nomination papers began on Friday (October 10, 2025) for the elections to 121 seats in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls, officials said. The first round of the elections will be held on November 6. NCSC seeks report on ‘caste bias’ allegations following Haryana IPS officer’s death
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, seeking a detailed report on the allegations of caste discrimination levelled by IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar in a note recovered from his house.
