Election Commission of India says defaming poll panel after unfavourable verdict absurd
Election Commission of India (ECI) sources on Saturday (June 7, 2025) rejected claims of rigging in the Maharashtra Assembly polls held last year and said defaming it after receiving an unfavourable verdict from the voters is absolutely absurd. The ECI sources were responding to an article by former Congress chief and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleging “match-fixing” in the Maharashtra state polls.
India fifth largest economy: Canada PM Mark Carney argues in favour of India’s inclusion in G7 summit

Government appoints RBI Deputy Governor T. Rabi Sankar as 16th Finance Commission member
RBI Deputy Governor T. Rabi Sankar has been appointed as a part-time member of the 16th Finance Commission, the finance ministry said on Saturday (June 7, 2025). Five Maoists gunned down in encounters in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district

Infosys gets huge relief on GST as DGGI closes ₹32,400-crore pre-show cause notice
In a major relief for Infosys, the Director General of GST Intelligence has closed pre-show cause notice proceedings against the company for financial years 2018-19 to 2021-22 involving a staggering ₹32,403 crore in GST dues. Tagger, McDonald win French Open junior titles
Lilli Tagger of Austria has won the girls’ title at the French Open without dropping a set in the tournament. Making her junior Roland-Garros debut this year, the 17-year-old Tagger beat eighth-seeded Hannah Klugman of Britain 6-2, 6-0 in the final on Saturday (June 7, 2025). Niels McDonald won an all-German final against Max Schoenhaus 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3. McDonald became the first German boys’ Grand Slam singles champion since Alexander Zverev won the junior title at the Australian Open in 2014.
