Stage set for D.K. Shivakumar to take over as new CM of Karnataka

The stage is set for eight-time legislator and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D.K. Shivakumar to be sworn in as the 34th Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday (June 3, 2026) evening at Lok Bhavan, which completes the leadership transition from outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that started last week. The list of Cabinet ministers – speculated to be between 10 and 15 – to be sworn in along with Mr. Shivakumar is expected to be released by the Congress central leadership on Wednesday.

U.S. sanctions Iran’s largest crypto exchange over IRGC links

Sarthak Sidhant flags CBSE OSM tender irregularities before Parliamentary panel

Sarthak Sidhant is too young to be elected to Parliament, but the 17-year-old student from Jharkhand, who flagged alleged irregularities in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) tendering process for the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, presented his findings before a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Tuesday (June 2, 2026). The committee on education, women, children, youth and sports, chaired by Congress MP Digvijaya Singh, met to discuss the “use of On-Screen-Marking (OSM) in Grade 12 CBSE exams and issues faced by students”.

No place for third parties in border issues: MEA in response to Nepal PM while hosting country’s ruling party chief

Responding to assertions made by Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) said that India and Nepal have bilateral mechanisms to deal with border issues and that there is “no role for any third parties” in such matters. Social realities belie notion that marriage severs daughter’s ties with parental family, says Supreme Court

Observing that contemporary social realities show that marriage does not sever a daughter’s ties with her parental family or necessarily end her dependency on them, the Supreme Court on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) held that marital status cannot be a ground for denying compassionate appointment to a married daughter. A Bench of Justices P.S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe observed that the presumption that a daughter, upon marriage, becomes a member of another family and severs all ties with her natal family is rooted in a “gender-based stereotype” and is incompatible with the constitutional guarantee of equality.

DRDO, IAF successfully flight-test indigenous RudraM-II air-to-surface missile

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have successfully conducted flight-tests of the indigenous RudraM-II air-to-surface missile, marking a significant milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen its precision strike capabilities and advance self-reliance in defence technology. According to the Defence Ministry, the missile was test-fired from an airborne platform under extreme release conditions, with the trials designed to validate the performance of all critical subsystems and flight parameters.
