Maratha Military Landscapes of India

The Maratha Military Landscapes of India has been inscribed on the World Heritage list by the World Heritage Committee, meeting for its 47th session at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The total number of World Heritage properties in India is now 44.
The property includes twelve major fortifications, mostly in Maharashtra State, with one in Tamil Nadu.
The forts in Maharashtra are Salher, Shivneri, Lohgad, Khanderi, Raigad, Rajgad, Pratapgad, Suvarnadurg, Panhala, Vijaydurg, and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra.
The fort in Tamil Nadu is Gingee Fort located in Vilupuram.
